Working with Text

With an image open or a empty canvas, click to add a new text layer (Click again to cancel the text tool). The toolbar on the editor gets some new buttons for working with text:

You can now click anywhere on the imge canvas to add text. The toolbar buttons can be used to format the text:

Font face or type. Lists all fonts available on your computer.

Font size. Select from the drop down menu or type a value in the box.

Font colour.

Align Left

Align Centre

Align Right

Bold

Italic

Underline

There is also an anti-alias checkbox option on the toolbar which makes the edge of text appear crisp and prevents jagged edges.

Cancelling the Text tool

After typing text, click to cancel the text tool, or click anywhere outside the text area which you have created. The text can then be clicked like any other layer and moved around on the canvas.

Re-editing Text

To edit the text again, simply double-click the text to make it editable. Text cannot be edited after the image has been flattened by saving the image as a flattened image type.

Resizing / Scaling Text after creation

Text should be resized by changing the font size (see re-editing above). It is possible to resize text using the handles around the text layer, but you should rasterize the text first (makes the text an uneditable image layer). To rasterize a layer, select it, and click rasterize.
