Opening and Saving Images

On the toolbar, the following button are used for working with image files:

Open Image

Save Image (Saves to local computer)

Create New Image

 

Opening Images

When the open button is clicked, a dialog box similar to the one below will be displayed to allow you to select an image file from your computer. Supported file types are Jpg, Gif, BMP, PNG, and ELIF (Proprietary Image format which preserves layer Information).

 

Saving Images to your computer

By clicking the save buton, you can save an image to your computer.

Notes on saving:

Gif Transparency: For GIF images, transparency information will be preserved if this is specified in the canvas properties.

Jpeg Quality: For Jpeg images, you will be prompted for a Jpeg quality number. 80 is the default and us usually sufficient. A higher quality may result in an increased file size:

 

Creating a new image

Clicking this button will raise a dialog allowing you to specify a width and height for a new, blank image. Any images which are open in the editor will be closed.
